But The Most Important Of All . . . FUN!!!
An Olympic year, how about "we have our own games". With great enthusiasm, eagerness and excitement the entire school got into the "spirit of our 1st KIS Mini Olympic Games.
Organised mainly by the Kamo Intermediate Olympic Committee of Miss Easterbrook and Mr Kini it began at one of our school assemblies with each class drawing which country they would represent.
Here are the classes and the countries they would become:
Room 2-GREECE, Room 3-RUSSIA ,
Room 4-ARGENTINA, Room 5-FRANCE,
Room 6-CHINA, Room 7-JAMAICA,
Room 8-NIGERIA, Room 9-KENYA,
Room 10-SOUTH AFRICA, Room 11-SAMOA,
Room 13-USA, Room 14-KOREA,
Room 15-JAPAN, Room 16-SWEDEN,
Room 17-VANUATU, Room 18-CANADA,
Room 19-FIJI, Room 20-ZIMBABWE,
Room 21-BOTSWANA, Room 22-GREAT BRITAN.
Finally the day was here, full of colour, pageantry and laughter. It started with the parade of nations around the school courts, after which the Chairman of the KIS IOC Mr Butler had the pleasure of announcing the games open. The athletes oath was taken by Dwayne and then finally we were into the Olympic events. Some of our sports included:
Knucklebones, Putting, Ping pong, Hop-skip-jump,
Paper darts, Card throwing, Plastic plate discus, Broomstick javelin,
Dodgeball, Shuttle sprints and Ball target shooting.
After a lot of skill, fun, laughing and smiles appearing all over the Olympic Games Stadiums, we had lunch to recover and get ready for the rest of the
