der Beitrag von Chris erinnert mich daran, daß ich schon seit einiger Zeit über das traurige Schicksal des englischsprachigen Barfußforums hinweisen wollte, auf das mich und andere vor geraumer Zeit Clemens aufmerksam gemacht hatte.
Das Problem dieses Boards bestand ziemlich eindeutig darin, daß es unmoderiert war und somit nicht vor destruktiv gesinnten Teilnehmern zu schützen war - ein Thema, daß uns im Grundsatz ja nicht unbekannt ist, mit dem wesentlichen Unterschied, daß Micha der Herr des Löschbuttons ist und diesen in solchen Fällen auch benutzt ...
Der Zufall will, daß eine Barfüßerin aus London die Geschichte des englischen Boards gerade gepostet hat, und ich zitiere sie (einige Übersetzungen mit Hilfe von Babylon für alle, deren Englisch so schlecht ist wie meines, in Klammern).

The ancestor (Vorfahr) of this board was set up on an information exchange site run by students on the mainframe computer (Hauptcomputer) of a public school called Millburn College near Elizabeth, NJ (USA).
It was started when a girl called Arianne Weitzmann posted for discussion a short poem on the joys of going barefoot in 1997 [...]
Nothing much happened for a year, then the board attracted attention and grew. There were two great girl barefooters posting stories, Teresa from Los Angeles and Kelly from Arizona, but both faded away (schwanden dahin) before the end of the board. The theme became the sensuous and erotic aspects of going barefoot, joining barefooters and foot- fanciers (Füßeliebhaber) of both sexes, but unfortunately the board was neither moderated nor edited. This meant that at least one person used it to create multiple personae in order to cause offence (Regelverstöße) and outrage (Frevel).
The first time that there was a serious outbreak of this Rachel, a barefoot teenage danseuse from near Baltimore and a sweet and clever girl, set up this board as an alternative should the first board close. The two boards ran in parallel for three months, but the nastiness (Garstigkeit) on the Millburn board turned deliberately vicious (absichtlich bösartig) and the board disintegrated and was closed.
So, let us be grateful to our board - goddess Rachel for our being here! The board is moderated, but only to avoid personal insult and stupid character-games; we are a tolerant and broad-minded (tolerante) group of people here! [...] Love, Claudia
